You know what I like most about smoothies? It’s a very flexible recipe. You can make smoothies out of almost anything edible! Like what I said in my previous post, smoothies are my go-to breakfast treat. So hang tight and let me offer another version of one of my most favorite things.
Choco – Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie
Most of the time, I turn to green leafy vegetables and fruits whenever I make smoothies. I never considered the idea of using cocoa powder, almonds, cinnamon, pecans, ginger powder, and chia seeds among others as additives or flavor enhancers. Today is an exception, because I am making my choco-banana peanut butter smoothie. Channeling my inner Albert Einstein, I scavenged through my utensils and started experimenting. If there’s one thing I enjoy most in what I’m doing, it’s this. It’s being able to mix and match ingredients like what Coco Chanel is doing with her famous fashion line to come up with outrageous concepts which are appealing to the eyes, err..in my case, to the tastebuds.
So putting my goggles on, I grabbed my super duper smoothie maker, tinkered through my fridge, and salvaged all the ingredients I can find. No greens this time. Today, I will be making a choco-banana peanut butter smoothie. Stop! Chocolate smoothie for breakfast? For real?! Let me break that down for you.
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Chocolate, on the other hand, contains endorphins which are natural happy hormones. Combining them together, I think I am about to make the best breakfast treat for you so far!
I got frozen bananas, peanut butter, some cinnamon, crushed almonds and cocoa powder. These are my incredible ingredients for today’s chocolatey beverage. I am also using a generous cup of my recently discovered rich and flavorful chocolate soya milk. Aside from the fact that it is already chocolate in flavor, it’s also gluten-free, it’s vegan and it’s lactose-free. Perfect for a lactose intolerant person like me. I didn’t waste time and gathered my ingredients and off to the kitchen I go.
Come with me, yes? 🙂 YES!
This choco-banana peanut butter smoothie would certainly be the best breakfast treat for you so far.
- 1 piece sliced frozen banana
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp ground almonds
- 1 cup chocolate soya milk
Using the cup of your smoothie maker, put all the ingredients. Blend it for 30 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and completely combined.
Sprinkle some ground almonds and voila! Enjoy!
In this recipe I used a gluten-free, vegan and lactose free chocolate soya milk. But you can always use any non-fat milk, or anything that suits on your preference.
